Conventions for writing, structuring, formatting and shipping modern Java 23 that compiles with zero warnings and no surprises.

Java 23google-java-formatMaven

Each revision is frozen at its own URL, so an agent pointed at /java@2026.10/rules.md keeps the same rules until you bump it. The rule changes below are worked out from the revisions themselves. Also as Markdown.

  1. Unreleased

Live at /java, not pinned yet · 220 rules

Appendix A's parent POM now follows section 19's rule that every plugin version lives in the parent's <pluginManagement>, as the template's POM already did:

    • maven-compiler-plugin takes its version from a new maven-compiler-plugin.version property.
    • maven-enforcer-plugin is added to <pluginManagement> with a maven-enforcer-plugin.version property.
    • The enforcer also requires Maven 3.9 or newer (requireMavenVersion), the "Maven too old" check section 19 lists.

    Rule changes since 2026.10

No rule changes; prose, examples or formatting only.

  2. 2026.10

    Released 2026-10-19 · 220 rules

The first pinned revision: the text published as rev. 2026.10 before guides were versioned. From this revision on, /java@<revision> URLs never change.
